Based in NY, I am a Resident Manager in a luxury apartment building. I am also studying Marketing Management and aim to reflect here on the various topics that will be discussed during the module of study.
Topics that I will reflect on will include:
Pricing Decisions & Communication Strategies (incl. Pricing, Advertising, PR, Sales Promotion, & Sales Management);
Distribution & Product Decisions (incl. Retailing, Services, & Non-Profit Organizational Marketing); and
The World of Marketing (incl. Strategic Planning for Competitive Advantage, Developing a Global Vision, and Social Media & Marketing).
Let me know what you think as I delve into each topic over the coming weeks and months.

Hi, Great view over the New York Skyline. I would imagine that the Apartments are high end – such a view in a city would command a high price and is one of the selling points. Are the occupants all business men and women? Any families?? Might you be offering ‘hotel type’ services to the occupants i.e. daily laundry service, room service? It would be interesting to know!

Yes, the views are amazing of the skyline and the Statue of Liberty, it’s great to go up on the roof and remind myself of where I am; it’s so easy to forget where you are sometimes! The rents range from north of $10,000 per month to over $20,000 per month so they’re on the higher end.
The residents predominantly work in finance and law. There are lots of families especially in the 3 bedroom apartments… there is a children’s playroom and also an area for stroller parking!
Yes, we offer some hotel features such as laundry pick up but I wouldn’t compare it to hotel services totally. However, it is a doorman building and we do cater for the residents in many ways.
